You Make a Difference
Margie’s Haven House relies on the generous support of donations of goods, services and money to provide services to victims of domestic violence.
Kindess and genuine concern is the reason we can continue to offer survivors of domestic violence vital services like support groups, advocacy, emergency shelter and crisis intervention.
Many people who support our mission say they derive great satisfaction from their generosity and would like to do more. Following are a few ideas that you might not have considered that may give you some tax advantages:
Cash
Nothing could be easier than making a gift of cash. It is the most common gift and the one you probably think of first. All cash donations up to 50 percent of your adjusted gross income are deductible if you itemize in the year of contribution. Any excess deductions can be carried forward for the next five.
Goods and Services
Many of the people we serve at our shelter and in the community are left with little to nothing. With your donations you can help them build a new life.
There are numerous possibilities to make in-kind-donations to Margie’s Haven House:
- Gift cards from Wal-Mart or Fred’s
- Gas cards
- Emergency cell phones
- Household needs, such as furniture, office supplies, toiletries and much more.
- Services or donation of labor cost
Since our storage space is very limited we can only accept items that are on our wish list. This wish list changes constantly. - $15 a day will help pay for shelter utilities.
- $25 a month provides one gas card.
- $50 a month pays for an emergency hotel stay.
- $200 a month can provide one week of groceries for the shelter.
Bequests
Some of our donors give by leaving a charitable gift in a will or a trust. Bequests are the most popular type of planned gifts. Anything you leave to a charitable organization will reduce the size of your taxable estate while helping a great cause. You can leave a specific bequest of a specified sum of money or even a piece of property. Other options are to leave a percentage of your estate or a percentage of the remaining estate to Margie’s Haven House, Inc. after making provisions for family and friends.
In Honorium Giving
Each year, individuals in the community make a gift to Margie's Haven House, Inc. as a Christmas or Birthday gift. This is a special way to honor someone who values the services we provide. Please call 501-362-6757 to make arrangements. Should you decide to send a check, please mark the bottom of the check with your loved one's name and attach a letter explaining your donation intentions so that we may thank you and the family of the loved one properly and in a timely manner.
